What is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist?
A Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist is an individual who has completed 2-3 years of Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship after completing four years of an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency upon graduation from Medical School. Fellowship training provides additional education and practical experience to gain special competence in various obstetrical, medical and surgical complications of pregnancy.
At the Gaston Perinatal Center, families are counseled about the specific problem they're facing during the pregnancy. We develop a management plan and coordinate your care with your referring doctor to provide comprehensive care. The knowledge of a particular problem in advance may improve the outcome for both mom and baby.
